Yelena Katsen has been interested in holistic medicine since she was a child. Her grandmother lived in a rural area and used raw herbs for treating many health conditions. Yelena has always been trying to gather insight into human nature and spirit, having a desire to help people to be healthy spiritually, emotionally and physically. She has studied philosophy in order to understand human nature better and to find a way to personal growth. Her field of interest was ancient philosophy of East and West, and ethics. Upon attaining her Master’s degree in philosophy, Yelena wanted to apply her theoretical knowledge to solving real-life problems. She desired her philosophy to be as practical as possible. This is how her philosophical knowledge and interest in holistic medicine met.
Chinese Medicine is based on ideas of Chinese philosophy, such as Chinese Cosmology,Naturalism,Taoism and Confucianism. Yelena believes that in order to practice Chinese Medicine successfully, a health care provider should understand philosophy of Chinese Medicine as an essence of it. Yelena’s background in philosophy helps her to meet people’ needs better and apply right ethical attitude towards her patients. Sun Si Miao, one of the greatest Chinese medicine doctors, “King of the Prescriptions”, said that good physicians should study philosophy or they will not be able to understand the attributes of benevolence and righteousness. Yelena's professional opinion is that every physical problem has emotional and spiritual component. Her mission is to help people finding their own way to better health and to assist them in resolving emotional issues, releasing stress, and removing imbalances in the body which cause health problems. Every person is unique, and Yelena’s treatment strategies are also unique and individualized for every patient.
